Key Features

An RDIMM is a type of memory module that uses a register between the RAM chips and the system’s memory controller to manage data signals, enabling more stable and scalable performance. Micron DDR5 RDIMM memory is designed for a wide range of applications, including enterprise servers, cloud environments, and data centers, where high performance and reliability are critical. Fueling AI with Micron DDR5 RDIMM high-capacity memory Micron’s world-class high-capacity RDIMM modules are fueling advances in AI data centers around the world. Powered by Micron’s industry-leading 1β (1-beta) technology, the 128GB DDR5 RDIMM delivers more than 45% improved bit density,1 up to 22% improved energy efficiency2 and up to 16% lower latency1 over competitive 3DS through-silicon via (TSV) products.

Procurement FAQ
What DDR5 modules do you offer?
We offer DDR5 RDIMM modules from Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron in 32GB, 64GB, 96GB, and 128GB capacities, at DDR5-5600 and DDR5-6400 speeds, with 288-pin form factor, ECC, and 1.1V operating voltage.
What are the key advantages of DDR5 over DDR4?
DDR5 offers approximately 1.5–2× the memory bandwidth of DDR4, lower voltage (1.1V vs 1.2V), higher per-DIMM capacity (up to 128GB vs 64GB), and on-module ECC plus system-level ECC for improved reliability. For AI, HPC, and next-generation database workloads, DDR5 delivers substantially higher memory throughput.
Is DDR5 backward-compatible with DDR4 slots?
No. DDR5 uses a different physical connector and is not backward-compatible with DDR4 slots. DDR5 requires a server platform with DDR5 support, such as Intel Xeon Scalable 4th Gen (Sapphire Rapids) or AMD EPYC 4th Gen (Genoa). Please confirm your platform before ordering.
What is the difference between DDR5-5600 and DDR5-6400?
DDR5-6400 provides approximately 14% higher peak bandwidth than DDR5-5600. As with DDR4, your processor's memory controller determines the maximum supported speed. Sapphire Rapids natively supports DDR5-4800; running DDR5-5600 or DDR5-6400 requires XMP/EXPO profiles or platform certification.
What capacities are available and how much total memory can I install?
Per-DIMM capacities: 32GB, 64GB, 96GB, 128GB. A 2-socket server with 24 DIMM slots populated with 128GB modules supports up to 3TB of RAM — essential for memory-intensive AI training, large in-memory databases, and high-concurrency virtualisation.
Do these modules support on-DIMM ECC?
Yes. DDR5 architecture includes on-DIMM ECC as a standard feature in addition to system-level ECC provided by the server platform. This dual-layer error correction significantly improves reliability compared to DDR4.
Are these modules compatible with Intel Sapphire Rapids and AMD Genoa?
Yes. All modules comply with JEDEC DDR5 standards and are compatible with Intel Xeon Scalable 4th Gen (Sapphire Rapids) and AMD EPYC 4th Gen (Genoa). Please verify your server's QVL for specific speed grade certification.
What compliance standards do these modules meet?
All DDR5 modules are JEDEC-compliant and RoHS-certified.
What is the operating temperature range?
0°C to 85°C, suitable for standard air-cooled and liquid-assisted data center cooling environments.
What is the typical use case for DDR5 RDIMMs?
AI training servers, large-scale virtualisation hosts, in-memory databases (SAP HANA, Redis), high-frequency trading platforms, and any workload where memory bandwidth and capacity are bottlenecks. DDR5 is the native and recommended memory standard for Sapphire Rapids and Genoa-based servers.
